Chiesa di Sant'Aspreno ai Crociferi
The church, of seventeenth-century origin and rebuilt in the eighteenth century, brings together history, contemporary art and social value. Since the pandemic it has become Jago’s atelier and a space devoted to his works.
The recovery of Sant’Aspreno is part of the broader process of neighborhood valorization promoted by the local network and by the Luce al Rione Sanità project. Today it is a cultural stronghold that draws visitors, generates new opportunities for young people and strengthens the bond between heritage and community.

Pietà (2021)
Human and universal pain at the heart of a contemporary rereading
Jago’s Pietà draws inspiration from Michelangelo’s model, transforming sacred iconography into a secular cry about universal pain. The work, created right here, invites us to reflect on suffering, loss and vulnerability, transforming a sacred theme into a meditation on the present.
Venere (2018)
A beauty that restores dignity to bodies marked by time
La Venere offers an idea of beauty far from conventional canons: an elderly, naked woman through whom Jago restores dignity, strength and truth to a body marked by time. The work questions aesthetic stereotypes and suggests that beauty can also reveal itself in fragility, freedom and authenticity.
Aiace e Cassandra (2022)
Classical myth reread as an act of resistance
Born from an episode of classical mythology, the work addresses the theme of violence but through a female figure who reacts, resists and tries to oppose the aggression. It turns the scene into a reflection on resistance, on anger and on the possibility of imagining a different outcome.
Narciso (2023)
The reflection becomes a mental perception
Crafted from statuary marble, the work reinterprets the myth of Narcissus, inviting reflection on the difficulty of understanding another person’s inner world. Narcissus’s reflection is not that of a mirror, but a female figure, which distorts his mental perception.
A representation that invites us to understand the inner world of others and the difficulty of perceiving the complexity of their emotions.
Integrazione (2022)
A story of vulnerability, resilience, and transformation
Originally titled Marmo Italiano, the sculpture depicts a young man lying in a position that conveys fragility. Through the use of black marble, the work prompts the viewer to reflect on the contrast between national identity and skin colour, encouraging them to look beyond appearances.
Before arriving here, in 2022 the sculpture spent a month aboard the Ocean Viking operated by SOS Méditerranée, bearing witness to the suffering endured by those fleeing war. It was exhibited at the Olympic Stadium as part of a campaign against racism promoted by the Serie A League and Sport e Salute. It then faced vandalism and destruction on the pavement of Ponte Sant’Angelo, amongst Bernini’s statues.
Natura Morta (2025)
A critique of a world where death is a consumer product
In Jago’s interpretation, the traditional Caravaggio fruit basket is transformed into a basket filled with weapons, symbolising a natural world steeped in violence.
Whilst ripe fruit served as a metaphor for the transience of life, the weapons depicted by Jago go further, showing us objects designed to kill that pervade our daily lives.

The walk winds through the alleys of the Rione Sanità and opens the doors to two extraordinary places that remained closed for decades: the Blue Church and the Jago Museum. Two remarkable sites that tell stories of courage and rebirth, returned to the community thanks to the commitment of local young people.
Two stops followed by an excellent aperitivo offered in collaboration with “Sciò – Drink and Food”, a bar located at the entrance to Borgo dei Vergini.
